History
Registered in 1973 in London under the form of a consortium between Barclays Bank, JP Morgan Chase and Romania (by Banca Romana de Comert Exterior. 50%, Anglo-Romanian Bank (ARBL) operated for more than 30 years under British license.
  • In 1998 Bancorex became ARBL shareholder in percentage of 100% and in September 1999, as a result of Bancorex absorption process, Banca Comerciala Romana becomes sole shareholder of ARBL.
  • Part of BCR group and, as from 2000, the subsidiary fully held by the leader of Romanian banking system, Banca Comerciala Romana.
  • During the year 2004 ARBL acquired the European subsidiaries of Germany (Frankfurt Bucharest Bank) and France (Banque Franco Roumaine), achieving strategic dimension and concentration.
  • The subsequent merger of the banks acquired as branches of Anglo-Romanian Bank Ltd lead to the creation of the only bank specialized in the Romanian business environment.
